- What is the DeCA?
- The DeCA is Spain's electronic administrative control document (Documento electrónico de Control Administrativo) used in certain public road freight transports.
- When does the digital DeCA become mandatory?
- On 5 October 2026 for domestic Spanish transport covered by the regulation.
- Can paper still be used?
- The document must be generated digitally. The driver may carry an electronic copy or a printed copy bearing the corresponding QR code.
- Does the DeCA have to be signed?
- Not as a general rule. A signature may be needed when the document is also used for contractual purposes.
- How long must it be kept?
- At least one year.
- Can a consignment note serve as the DeCA?
- They are different documents, but the consignment note format can be used for the DeCA if it contains all the mandatory data and meets the electronic document requirements.
